The latest expansion pack for Dead Space 2, Severed, has finally arrived, and it's safe to say that it's more of the same familiar ground. The DLC takes place onboard the infected Sprawl, where you'll be playing as Gabe Weller, a security guard last seen in Dead Space Extraction. His mission is to reach his girlfriend, Lexine, who's holed up in the medical bay.

The experience is condensed down to a mere 90 minutes, which is quite short compared to the original game. Despite this, Severed still manages to pack in many of the same locations, weapons, and enemies from Dead Space 2. The new suit you get to wear is a nice touch, complete with a shiny orange eye instead of Isaac's blue strips.

One notable section that makes a return is the part where you're hanging upside down and fighting off hordes of enemies while trying to free your foot. It's a thrilling experience, but unfortunately, it's not enough to redeem the overall lackluster package.
